On Monday, August 7, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the Opelousas Alumni Chapter, along with the Epsilon Alpha Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., the I-49 Riders, Amerihealth Caritas, and the Opelousas School of Cosmetology, sponsored the Inaugural "Styles and Kuts for Kids" event. At the event, students were provided free basic haircuts and hairstyles, along with free food, and free backpacks, to kick off a new school year.

There was a live radio broadcast, and local news media covered the event. Backpacks were provided by Amerihealth Caritas for students participating. Brothers Raymond Allmon and Robert Morrison, along with brothers from the Theta Nu Chapter were on hand to help distribute backpacks to students. We thank our local community partners for working together with us to give students a great start to the new school year.
